Drug Use and Abuse

This is a caption of a quiz my 6 grader son has recently taken. What can I say? Seeing this quiz I feel cheated. Do we really pay the taxes so that the kids in grade 6 learn the difference between inhalants and stimulants? Quite candidly, by sound of it, I could surmise the meaning of these words. I am sure, in time, if the kids read and in general master the spoken language, they will be able to recognize the structure of the words – roots and suffices, etc., from which the possible meaning is easily derivable. But why waste time on that garbage in 6th grade, if at all? The practice reminds of a cartoon where a mother requested from her son to memorize the words that he should not be using.

Perhaps that’s an attempt to let our kids learn what the real world has in store…

I think the test is intended to teach kids how to distinguish and avoid those evil stuff instead of being trapped by them…
